Following Krypton’s destruction, Kara Zor-El landed in Russia and was surrounded by robots that tried to subdue her. In an amazing display of power, she showed strength, speed, defense, heat vision, and screamed until she was overcome by her confusion of being on an unknown planet. With a blaster pointed to the back of her head, she was rescued by a single word from Superman. When he identified himself as her cousin Kal-El, Kara became enraged, thinking he was an impostor; in her mind, she was holding baby Kal-El only the day before. Kara attacked Kal, only to become scared by her own new powers, such as X-ray vision and flight. After punching Kal through the Great Wall of China, Kara realized her fight was endangering people nearby and agreed to accept Superman’s help adapting to her new life. When she flew back to search for the capsule, she was invited by Symon Tycho to his space station, where he tested her limits; he watched her being weakened by kryptonite but an employee helped Kara break out. Still not in full control over her powers, Kara accidentally destroyed the whole station.

Stephanie Brown was born the daughter of Cluemaster, one of Gotham’s third-rate villains. Her father spent most of her childhood in prison or away from the family; though he claimed to be rehabilitated, Brown was furious to discover he was actually returning to crime and decided something needed to be done. She tailored a costume for herself and called herself Spoiler. She knew where her father was hiding, found out his plans, and left clues so Batman could stop him. Tim tracked her down and she joined in on the capturing of Cluemaster. She also became attracted to Drake, and it annoyed her that he knew her identity but she did not know his. During a point where Drake and his girlfriend were unable to see each other, he and Brown grew closer. He came to realize that his feelings for Brown had grown into something more and, after breaking up with Ariana, began dating Stephanie. Unfortunately, because he needed to maintain the Batfamily secrecy, Robin was unable to reveal his true identity to Spoiler. Soon, the two were forced into a long-distance relationship that’s made even more complicated by the fact she still didn’t know his real name. When Robin went missing, Batman approached Spoiler and offered to train her. He also told her Robin’s real name and this betrayal drove a wedge in between him and Robin for a while, as well as causing trouble for the youngsters. Brown trained with Batman and began a friendship with Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), who helped train her in exchange for reading lessons.
