Right from the start, you were a thief; you stole my heart and I, your willing victim, I let you see the parts of me that weren’t all that pretty, and with every touch, you fixed them.
Tifa Lockhart, by Andika Pradana.
セフィロス was born to Hojo and Lucrecia Crescent. Before his birth, his “parents” were assistants to Gast on the Jenova Project, which studied the remains of an extra-terrestrial entity who was thought to be one of the Cetra, who had the power to talk to the planet. Shinra raised Sephiroth to be a super soldier and told him nothing of his mother except that her name was Jenova and she died during childbirth. In what would become his final mission, Sephiroth was ordered to inspect the Mako Reactor with Zack Fair and his friend Cloud Strife. He found pod-like chambers containing mutated humans; deeper inside, he found a larger chamber labeled “JENOVA” containing a strange feminine-looking creature. Sephiroth flew into a rage, deeply horrified that the reason he was different from everyone else was because he was created from the remains of a monster. As he defeated Fair, Strife ran a sword through Sephiroth but his enhanced anatomy allowed him to live. Strife attacked again but Sephiroth stabbed him with the Masamune. Strife summoned unknown strength and hurled Sephiroth into a pool of Mako. Sephiroth vanished with Jenova’s head in his grasp, apparently falling to his death. In actuality, Sephiroth fell into the Lifestream, his willpower too great to allow himself to be consumed. His powers enhanced and Sephiroth’s goal now is to merge with the Lifestream and seize control of it to become a god.

Zack is the second wielder of the Buster Sword before his best friend Cloud, is flirty with women (occasionally asking a few out as he does with Aerith right after meeting her, depicting himself to be somewhat of a ladies’ man), is protective of his friends and will be ready to defend them without hesitation.
