After gaining control over four powerful mutants, Apocalypse entered the final stages of his mission to wipe out all of humankind. Against Storm, Ray Crisp [aka Berserker] generated lightning that fried Ororo; assisting him was Iceman, who helped negate Munroe’s hail using his own similar abilities, as well as Spyke, who tried to get his aunt back to her senses. Fighting Magneto was Roberto da Costa [aka Sunspot], who had the power to absorb the sun’s energy to use as his own; tagging along was Shadowcat, Magma, the Brotherhood, and Erik’s daughter Wanda, who was practically the only mutant who stood a chance against the master of magnetism. Most of the New Mutants faced off against their teacher, Professor X, including Laura Kinney [aka X-23]. Finally, Mystique battled Sam Guthrie [aka Cannonball], Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine, who subdued her in order to let Rogue into Apocalypse’s chamber to cancel his powers using Leech’s ability so that he may be stopped. The series ended with a speech by Charles, who caught a glimpse of the future while being controlled by Apocalypse; people would continue their anti-mutant sentiment, [reformed] Lehnsherr would be teaching the New Mutants, with the return of Rahne Sinclair [aka Wolfsbane] and Jubilation Lee [aka Jubilee], Jean would inevitably turn into Phoenix (T-T), and the last scene showed the X-Men, which would consist of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Beast, Shadowcat, Storm, and new additions of Iceman, Angel, Havok, Gambit, Colossus, and X-23. :’)
