On Earth-3, Thomas Wayne, Jr. was the older brother of that reality’s Bruce Wayne, who was killed along with his mother by a cop when Thomas Sr. refused to accompany him for questioning. Thomas Jr. escaped the crime scene with the hoodlum Joe Chill, whom he considered his hero and grew up to become Owlman. Equipping himself with a utility belt containing technology and weapons similar to those used by Batman along with a drug-enhanced high intellect devoted to crime rather than serving the law, Owlman became a master criminal and an ally to local crimelord “Boss” Gordon. He learned that his father was still alive and had become the police commissioner. Thomas Jr. blamed his father for the deaths of his mother and brother and that was the main purpose to his criminal career: to punish his father, who was aware of who his son was and was equally determined to destroy him. While Ultraman was the leader of the Crime Syndicate, Owlman was the brains, and the working relationship between them was tense due to the former’s desire to rule the planet through fear. Further complicating things was the fact that Olwman carried on a longtime affair with Ultraman’s wife Superwoman. Ultraman was aware but because Olwman had undisclosed photographic blackmail material against thim, he was unable to seek retribution against Owlman for the betrayal.
